If only I had the time on my hands...

If you look at the MOT history, it did 65,000 miles in one year.... (unless that was they year the clocks were swapped?)

I was tempted to do that last year to our convertible as I had a donor car but I had a feeling it would get problematic when it came to mixing the wiring.....

It would have been fairly easy on a coupe though!

I think the chap who did it was a member on here at somepoint as I've seen several people refer to it - but years ago.

I expect the engine and gearbox swap was bolt in, what I'd love to know is how he coped with the electrics - I'm presuming he swapped the clocks & ecu etc but how would the CEM from a S70/V70 cope with 2 doors and not 4?

Could spend a long time on that.........

They have 4 windows that go down on both, that is all that matters.

It is a later model c70 with a msa 15.8 engine in it I suspect every thing is plug and play.

I suspect that there is at least one more of these. At a BKV a few years ago at Hatton there was a silver Coupe that had a diesel. I didn't have a look at it but saw it driving out. People were saying that it was a diesel and unusual. At the time I didn't know it wasn't a factory model.

Nope... the C70 Coupe has two windows and two doors (the 'vert has 4 windows).

Going from petrol to diesel is never going to be plug & play - how could it be?

Must just be the soft tops that have 4 windows that go down, that would only matter if you were going to consider a complete wiring harness swap

It is the beauty of volvos with the wiring looms they have fitted and as long as you have similar era cars they are generally not that hard to mix & match.

The ECU plug splits into two so you need to keep the engine loom and then just check the new ECU to car wiring diagram to see if they are all terminated to the correct pins.

An example is the turbo models TCV the wiring is in the correct place for the NA models which have some air pump... same wiring plug

The above models being discussed both use bosch ecu's (i think) so probably closer than the swap I did as it used different brand ECU's

It may take a little investigation as to what to do with the fuel pump system as the diesels dont use an in tank fuel pump....

I think this sort of this is for the seriously competent DIY'ers. That would probably be a ball ache for average Joe who takes their car to the local garage for upkeep.
