Light will stay on unless you clear the code from the ECU. If the fault (MAF unplugged) is no longer present, it may clear by itself after quite a few engine running cycles, but I'm not sure how many and maybe this isn't even true.

Seconded re. using the correct original Bosch part, these cars seem to be picky about MAF quality, and a cheap aftermarket part will probably cause further MAF-related issues, and probably end up being false economy. MAF failure isn't common on these, so a second-hand part may be a viable option - I did that on mine, although I later found the fault wasn't the MAF, but the second hand one worked just fine.

Can anyone recommend somewhere trustworthy to buy a MAF Sensor from? I'm struggling on a Google search. I called the Volvo dealer on the off-chance they might be competitive, but was £296+vat!

Hi Alpine,

What is the Bosch code on your existing MAF?

I would look on ebay for that same number, and stick to Bosch.

Did this get resolved? If so, and was cured by a new MAF, what was the Bosch number?
This may be relevant to my "Fuel tank" thread.

Hello Derek

The number printed on the rear on my old Bosch MAF is 0 280 217 107 (and also 1 275 749)

I haven't been able to find a replacement Bosch one, so at the moment I am running the car with the MAF unplugged and the engine management light on. It runs fine, apart from a slight hesitation when pulling away.

I've not read your fuel tank thread, but if that could be a cause of my problem I'd be interested to learn. My MAF looks perfectly clean and I understand it is rare for them to fail.
