Default Emissions light

Hey,

My 2016 V40 D2 R-Design with only 10,000 miles on it just had the emissions light turn on?

Any one else have experience with this? A bit of research tells me the oxygen sensor may need a clean.

There will be a stored diagnostic trouble code that would help to pinpoint the problem. If you get that code read by someone with an OBD2 reader then you won't need to guess.

Yep got an OBD2 reader today and it showed code P014C which is related to the O2 sensor.

I guess this is from London driving. Will get it cleaned and see how long that helps the issue for.

I had that one a couple of years ago. It's where the exhaust lambda sensor gets sooted up and gives a slow response... I kept clearing the fault code and it kept coming back. Booked the next service and mentioned the recurring fault but then before the service the problem went away and never came back! I discussed it with the technician who reckoned that a DPF regen will usually also burn the soot off this sensor and, in any case, the batch of software updates loaded during the service included a fix to make the system less sensitive to the slow response. It's never happened again...

Hmm the light mysteriously disappeared itself a couple days and hasn't come back since.

Assuming the issue was as sooted up O2 sensor I'm guessing this means excess fuel has burned the soot away (for now).
