Default S40 1.6 Diesel 2008 slow heating up

Hello All

I'm new owner of 2008 S40 1.6 hdi and noticed that it is very slow to reach 80 degrees.
My previous cars (not diesel nor Volvo) did heat up much much quicker.
I've been looking around and been told that this engine is like that and to just live with it.

Not sure if that's right - should I suspect thermostat ?

Regards
Tom

I had a 2012 Drive which is the 8 valve version of your engine. Mine was ridiculously slow to warm up right from being brand new. On cold days in traffic, the temp could drop right down to the bottom of the gauge! Very much behaved like it had a stuck open thermostat

I queried it with the dealer who advised it wad normal for that model.

My XC60 with the 5 pot D4 heats up in less than 2 miles even on cold days

This is my first Volvo and first turbo diesel engine so a bit fresh with all of that.

Wonder if anyone tried to "fix" this "issue".

I don't know
- different thermostat ?
- maybe different air filter ?

Or something ?
