Does anyone know what the light penetration levels are on the factory privacy glass on the V90?
I am getting mine tinted and don’t want anything too light or dark..
Is it about 30%?

I think it's written on the glass.

I got 60%/Smoke tint. It's perfect

Interesting.
I have factory privacy glass (also on previous Volvo’s) and never thought about a % factor.
Where on the glass is it displayed?
Thank you.

tem.

I recently had mine done on a V90 and went for 15%. Matches the pano roof well and when parked at the dealer seems identical to the factory tint. Looks very dark from the outside but still very light inside.

The rules for tinted front windscreens and front side windows depend on when the vehicle was first used. There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.

Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later

The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.

Vehicles first used before 1 April 1985

The front windscreen and front side windows must both let at least 70% of light through.

Woah (that’s Horse, for slow down), you’ve been working for The Man for too long Daddio.

Some of us just want to live free and don’t wanna follow your rules man.

I think the OP meant behind the B pillar.

Thanks for that. 15% is darker than I would have thought. It is the factory look I am after so the comparison from the dealer is good.
Mine has the panoramic roof as well but the dark interior so I didn’t want anything which would make it too dark inside.
Thanks for your comments. I may well go for 15 or 20% then.

Sorry my bad, the aftermarket tint I had done is 20% "Smoke" - chap claimed he works for one if the Volvo dealer nearby and that's standard Volvo tint.

On the Volvo glass, the label says minimum 70% transmission (on all Windows)

In my opinion it is always better to not have the factory tint, and get some aftermarked film. The factory tint is only 'smoked glas' and does not add any UV protection. Film on the other hand will add 9x% of UV protection as well, which will do good for the interior and the temperature in the cabin.

Oh yes, forgot to add, I had UV films on the front. The tinted screen blocks 99% UV too. I'm told ALL modern windshields have UV filters.

Would be interesting to know what kind of UV protection Factory tints provide.
