I'm watching this with interest because my 03 D5 V70 has recently gone into limp mode, and sorts itself out when I switch off and restart.

I've noticed that the EMS warning light doesn't come on when it goes limp. Is this normal?

This post is now extremely interesting, believe it or not my 2005 D5 (with 70k)has only for the last couple of days started going into limp mode after a heavy right foot moment.

Admittedly the engine service required light goes off after switching the engine off then on, but i'm lost as to why it happens?

Wonder if this is a common occurance on the D5? Other suggestions on the web indicate that it could be the fuel filter or intercooler causing the problem?

Will definately check my rubber pipe tomorrow.

please post if anyone else has success with fitting a new rubber pipe...

I've inspected my rubber pipe, and it looks like it's already been replaced, it looks in A1 condition. So that's not my problem

Hi Georgey, the crankcase breather pipe pulls out with a bit of wiggling but not easily. The real challenge is getting the pipe back into the new elbow ~ see my photoguide for details

Hi HH, what a great post with super pictures, especially for anyone like me who isn't very mechanically minded. My 04 D5 experienced this loss of power this afternoon for the first time. Lasted approx. 30 seconds and the engine service warning flashed up but went off again as the power came back on. This was after I floored it to pass another vehicle going uphill.
After reading this i checked the pipe and mine too is very soft though no signs of damage that i could feel.
I will wait to see how it drives over the next few days, though I'm due to tow my caravan this weekend so dreading what might happen if it happens again with caravan on back.
