Noise from the A.C. Compressor
Hello
I got an awful noise from the a.c. compressor and the belt slips, especially when the engine is cold, although it's well tensioned. The compressor, I believe is a Sanden, part no. 3485087. Don't know if it's linked with this but also, the cold air is very poor even after recharge. What should i do? Is there a bearing to exchange and that's it? Or is something more complicated? Any idea is appreciated. Tnx. |

If the AC is not engaged does it still run noisy? Does it make a noise like a bad waterpump or whine like a supercharger? If not then maybe the clutch on the AC comp. is not engaging properly or its relay may not be good (not sure about that though). Might also be worth checking the oil level level in the AC compressor but I do know that the special oils that they fill them up with is very expensive but you only need a few 100mls of it. Try taking the belt off and spinning the pulley to check if it really is its bearing that's the problem.

Hello
It's more like a bad clutch bearing... When the engine is cold is much noisier and it's the same with the a.c. engaged or not. Maybe next week i'll have the time to take the belt off and check it. Merci. |

(Just a thought: it might also be a worn pulley or worn belt as some tensioners that have worn pulleys for e.g. won't tension belts properly and are noisy.)
