Looks to have good bones, good luck with finding the correct owner for it.

good morn,

You might get more views if you placed your advertisement in the sales section:

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=150

The asking price is up to you of course, but I think it unlikely that a laid-up Volvo 240 with no MoT might achieve anything close to £2,100. Project cars like that generally make a bit under a grand.

I wish you good fortune with the sale.

:-)

Some interior trim and under bonnet pics would help chap!

I like the look of it generally though!

Agreed, Alan, but in fairness 'LordJimothy' is a very new member of the forums who may therefore be less than familiar with such nuances.

In his favour is that it is an estate (which have always carried a premium over the equivalent saloons) that also looks to be a very clean example. Nice registration number too, if one feels that sort of thing is important.

Regards, John.

You are probably right John, LordJimothy's 240 estate will probably make much more.

I did just notice this from David in the 'For Sale' section though:
1984 240GLT estate: failed MoT - offers.
Sold 24.10.22 to a breaker in Inverurie for £200.
Alan

That £200 does indeed seem rather on the low side, Alan - no more than weighing in value, I would think. Do we know the nature and extent of the MOT faiure?

A failed MOT on rust spelt the end for my '87 745 GLE. The repairs would have cost me c£500, more than I felt the car was worth. A competent welder such as yourself could almost certainly have done it for much less.

Perhaps values are lower in Scotland. The 245 GLT was one of the more desirable incarnations; our '83 MOD was one of my favourite Volvos.

It is a truism that any car is worth whatever anybody is prepared to pay for it on the day. Like you, I wish 'LJ' good fortune with his sale.

Regards, John.
