As our erudite friend above said - it was the dealer diagnostic system for Volvo up to MY98. VIDA replicates 99% of what VST 2000 (Volvo Scan Tool) can do, but what you crucially can only do with VST is calibrate the roof positions to the potentiometer readings. Whilst you can read sensor and switch values in VIDA, you can also only perform activations in VST (i.e. control individual motors etc.)

Greetings from the USA! I acquired the C70 originally referenced in this thread from Mr. Andrew Martin yesterday. I'm completely ignorant of the dark arts of the convertible roof. The top is still not functioning, so I greatly appreciate your thoughtful responses to his question as I start on my adventure repairing and caring for this gem.

Get yourself a working Volvo VIDA installation with DICE.

Start with lots and lots of reading..... but once understood - they are usually simple and easy to fix.

Also check out the UK Facebook Group C70 Mk1 Convertible Roofs and Fixes (or similar). There's a chap on their Karl Sabin who can supply any spares you might want.

Four/five years ago, I had the same idea to make replacement for the VST. Plus a stand alone roof specific diagnostic tool for direct testing of the motors, micro-switches, and potentiometers. Reason, had two DiCE both failed to work. Then health and other problems delayed the project.

Can you send me a copy of the K-line codes. I'm having soft top problems and trying to gather any info about how they function.

I’m looking to conjure a tool as well. I’m not super smart, but I work with world-class software engineers who enjoy a challenge. I’m gathering as much data as I can.

Have you had a look at this thread? There is a PDF purported to have K-lines and a bit about where they found the info. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=315745&page=2
