I do understand why you (need to) do it

Quick update on my own post.
I have never heard the regen take place either, but within a year and a half ownership, I would guess that it did happen multiple times.

Went to the dealer this morning, took them roughly an hour to check. In my case, the oil was actually overfilled, although no errors or the like. The mechanic told me that the oil filling process was completely automated, meaning he will only enter info on the vehicle and the amount of oil that is filled is completely dependent on this input. They had experienced some times, that the automation was always 100% accurate. In my case they removed a bit, and now all is good.

I assume that you meant not always 100% accurate?

It’s what they call an educated guess They can only assume, with engine and cooling system showing no damage, that it was an overfill. The only way to know for sure would be to test the oil- but no dealer will bother with that..

Car back this morning.

Software updated. Oil drained and refilled with 200ml left in the pot. I’m amazed they didn’t test the oil for contaminants - no need apparently.

They also repaired a slow puncture foc and the service manager collected me
From home on his way to work to pick the car up.

All in all a very good service so no complaints (unless it happens again).

I’ve got the same issue, car booked in next week apparently ok to drive unless the red warning is shown. I assume this was fixed for others under warranty?

Yep they did mine under warranty. Ask them if they changed the engine oil due to diesel contamination if the high level was caused by the DPF regens.

From the amusing youtube film it appears this can affect diesel and petrol cars, but from the post here loos like you're all diesel owners?

Is this an issue with both or more prone to diesel, I've never had this issue on any diesel engine I've had (BMW and Volvo) or any petrol engine?

I think you're more likely to be affected if you do short journeys on a diesel. Perhaps that's why hybrids are now all petrol powered.

Likewise my previous BMW 320d was never impacted by this with the same driving style/pattern.

I have had the same oil level increase and dilution issue on a 2009 V70 and a 2009 C30 - but both were traced to faulty DPF pressure sensors.

Cannot understand as no issue with this for 18 months then this happens , only difference is its a lot hotter this year than last . car was showing 30c on dash on friday at 17.30.

Lets hope its sorted asap , had same engine in a S60 then aV40 & no issue
