Sticking Lock (open) in cold weather
Hi
Bought a C70 back in the summer and now the cold weather in the UK has arrived I am having a problem. The drivers side door lock sticks (freezes) open and then the door wont latch shut. It opens no problem. Warm water poured around the lock frees in so the door will shut but this is a bad idea in the long term. The garage have briefly looked at it and re applied lubrication, to no avail. Has anyone else had this / can anyone shed any light on the problem? Cheers Philip |

It's probably water in there that is causing your problem.
Park it in the sun, side on and get it as warm as possible to dry it out. Use a spray oil like WD40 or a silicone lubricant spray (best) and get a load in there around the lock and handle. If you pull the handle out to open the door, there is enough gap to get the thin spray pipe in there. Work the handle and add more spray. You can angle the spray to cover a larger section inside. With a butter knife and a cloth, clean the inner edge of the rubber window strip, you may have water getting in from there. Worst case you may need to remove the inner door cover to get at it all. There is a cable in a sleeve that can get stiff, and need oil.

The sad thing is that at the moment I am having to pour warm water on the door outer around the lock to free it ...

Do as Julian said above and you will have no more issues, vaseline also works a treat
