Talking 1988 740GL 2.0 Low Mileage

1988 VOLVO 740GL SALOON 5 SPEED MANUAL 2.0 INJECTION

I'm needing to sell my much loved saloon due to financial priorities,

The car is an outstanding example of a late 80's Volvo's true swedish engineering,
Everything works as it should, except for the passenger front door power lock,
but it can be manually locked and unlocked from either inside or out, the rest function as new.

47,000 original miles (backed up by an online car check report, if necessary).
2 x MOT Documents, emmissions, and owners wallet and V5 Present
6 Keys, 2 x Owner Key
2 x Service Key
2 x Fuel Cap key

Recently passed MOT, 1 Neglegible advisory,'anti roll bar bushes split but not creating ANY movement'.

(I have replacement Bushes ready to be fitted)

Starts first time everytime, drives fantastic,

Work Recently done over past 6 months:

New rear brake pads (mintex), shims and spring clips,
Water pump seals replaced
Coolant and system flushed + radiator flushed.
Oil and oil filter changed (genuine volvo filter)
Cambelt and tensioner
Spark plugs and air filter
New heated rear window fitted + receipt
New coolant tank cap
Sitting on 4 volvo aires alloy wheels and pirelli + Firestone tyres with good tread well within legal limits,
spare tyre is on an volvo alloy also.

Car has been undersealed inside and underneath against corrosion.

Interior is like new, no tears, rips or faded fabric etc.

Bodywork has only a few scuffs (on the rear wheel arches)

The car is a must see to be appreciated, and ideally want it to go to a good home

I'm wanting £475 for her, with the amount of preventative maintenance work carried out.

Car is taxed until May, MOT due October 2011

I'm wanting £475 for her, with the amount of preventative maintenance work carried out.

Any questions please feel free to ask PM me for my number or email

Thank you!

Very sad to hear your having to sell your car after all the hard work and money spent on it.There seems to be quite a few up for sale both here and elsewhere.I'm not suprised as we are all finding it hard at the moment.I will end up sorning mine and just using the one car and I only do about four thousand miles a year so manageable.

I hope someone here can see how nice your car is and saves it or there won't be any nice ones left.
Regards Brian.

It is, the price of fuel and insurance for this lovely car is overwhelming, i sure the car will go to somebody who will look after it properly, (i'm sure anybody on here will look after the car)

I'll be certainly be getting another RWD volvo 700 or 900 when i move to australia! I do 100 miles or city driving in rush hour each week, so as you could imagine, the fuel bill soon tots up...

Hi ,
They wont let me PM you .
Your car looks superb . Where in the country are you? ( i can see Salford - never heard of it but am willing to travel)
How often do you use the car ? I am after a car to use regularly , no great distance ( 16miles or so) but reliability is a must as it would be used when my wife takes the V70 .

Any info would be great.
Kind regards Scott

I'm sorning mine at the moment. can't bring myself to sell it as there is nothing at all wrong with it- 20 year old cars like that are rare.
Using an old LDV 200 for everyday wheels now.
