I'm awaiting a Voltage Regulator part before spending money to send away for repair.
The DIM hasn't failed over the last view days with the exceptions of the SRS warning.
I ran VIDA scan on car to reset that light. Only other code is a CEM code for a weak rear door lock signal. I'm thinking that's not a code to be concerned about.
BUT, VIDA now shows that the mileage on the car is only 136 Miles, up from 63 when the cluster went nuts.
Anyone want a 14 year old car with only 136 original miles?

I didn't wait to install the regulator.
Instead I bought a similar model number DIM on EBAY for only $40.
Installed it and it works.
VIDA first warned of a new unit as well as manipulated odometer.
Cleared the codes, reran scan, cleared codes, reran scan again and no more issues.
Only the Mileage stays with the DIM. So now my car has 20,000 less miles.
So it is worth the effort to order a used unit. After all, the car is 13 years old.

Good solve. The original miles are still kept in the computer, but since is almost the same as the new DIM it's not big deal. The replacement DIM I put in my car has 60k extra miles

When you bought your replacement DIM did you match any number?
I recall reading about 8 or so suffix numbers used by the manufacturer/programmer.
About 3 seasons ago someone warned about sophisticated diagnostic equipment being confused by a DIM having a "non-matching" or otherwise nonconforming number.
If you're near anybody with a VIDA it could make for an interesting experiment.
It would be good to know. Kira

Very lucky there.
I tried 9 units, some with completely matching numbers and never had any luck.

The mileage is held in the DIM and the CEM. If there's a mismatch, it'll show the higher of the two in an effort to stop people clocking the car.

I did match a few series of numbers on the DIM. The only issue was the odometer reading. My original went from 169,563 to 63. The newer unit was at 149,000 in which VIDA now recognizes. A view readings did warn of a non matching DIM as well as other non conforming issues. A couple of reset values and rereads and the errors eventually dropped off.

This DIM had a problem not in motorola microcontroller, but in couple resistors next to it. DIM is from V70 2002 with controller mask 3K91D (mc68hc912dg128).
It took me 5 hours to find the problem.
