Default Rear Hub Carrier

Picking up failures from previous owner!

Have had this 2004 V70 phase 2 d5 for 3yrs, and we are finding it has obviously had "history". Have read about handbrake woes, and a previous owner had evidently had serious problems - the lug on which the handbrake shoes sits has broken off, and a steel bracket fabricated as a "work around" to replicate its function.

Handbrake has always been poor, and now MOT handbrake failure triggered strip down which revealed the "work around", but that has now failed, causing current handbrake probs.

So, I'm in market for 2nd user hub carrier (everything else except back plate is good!). Have come across some for the S80 - so my question, will the S80 carriers fit the V70?

Next question - how much of a PITA is replacing it, and are there any special tips/tools I should be aware of.

Thanks in anticipation!

This may be a cheaper option: http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...-shoe/1021835/

I'm sure you may find a UK supplier too.

Many thanks - that is very similar to the bit I referred to as a "fabricated work-around". Trouble is, the machine screws have both sheared, meaning at best removing the hub, drilling out and re-tapping in situ, plus getting a new back plate. Either way, not a good way to spend a sunny summer afternoon!

Ah! That looks like the eBay one - also looks like it's been in there a while. I can see why you want a new one now!
