Default Headlight reflector help

Hi.
I have a 1980 volvo 244 with rusty dull reflectors. They are different from the 1981 on reflectors and I can't find anywhere to get replacements. I can only find 1 picture of them on the internet.

I have attached the images (i think).
Can replacements be gotten?
Are there any other options?

Someone who lives near me spray painted a pair of reflectors with high heat chrome paint. They looked good to me. I don't know the brand of paint he used.

Interesting, Kendec: as you say, nothing like the later headlights. Also not the same as my friends '78 244 square headlights. Could they be an export option of that period? The condition of those fixings look too good to be a previous owners compromise/bodge because he too couldn't get replacements?

Some time ago a lister did his bodge by using chrome-tape, which behind the glass might give adequate brightness to pass inspection by officials, but of course the owner would know and not be really satisfied!

Would a later reflector fit if you were able to modify the plastic attachment points?

Would an entire later light assembly fit, or is the front panel different?
Or as a last resort, swap an entire front panel with lights and even radiator grill?

Are you sure it is not a 264 ? The 1980 244 has square headlamps in UK anyway ... you would be better looking for 264 reflectors ...

That's an interesting point, Clan: I had a T-reg 264 until a couple of years ago, which had square headlights of about that size. Never took them out though so can't confirm - car sold to the V6 enthusiast in Wales who did that article on V6 Volvo's in a "Driver" magazine of that period.
I wonder if the entire front panel has been swapped for a 260 item? Does your car have a chrome-plated grill as had the 260 range, Kendec?

1980 models
A 264 did not have square headlamps they were rectangular like your reflectors above ...

The 244 GLE had the rectangular lights like your reflectors , which was in effect the 264 front panel ...

only the 244 DL had the square headlamps

I used the Rustoleum chrome spray on some of mine.

I would describe the finish as matt grey. Halfords sell matt grey for a fraction of the cost of the Rustoleum product.

I see your Volvo is 1980 but I bought a set of these for my father in-laws 1988 245GLT. They state from 1981 to 1993 however they are a fantastic seller and may be able to help as they can source all sorts of parts.
