Volvo S60 D5 SE Manual (Dec 2002 1st reg). BARGAIN
I need to sell my S60 as I’m moving to a Volvo estate because I need to load space and I’m keen to shift it quickly so I don’t have major issues with insuring 2 cars etc. I’m prepared to offer this at a suitably attractive price to achieve this. The usual common faults of intercooler and DIM addressed within the last few months. I have used to car for 90% motorway miles.
Mileage: 133k MOT: 26th May 2013 with no advisories. It only needed a pair of wipers. Tax: Expired end June 2012 (can be taxed at your expense as I still have the car insured). The usual SE spec: • leather, premium sound system (CD changer), all eclectic windows/mirrors etc. • Electric adjustable driver’s seat. • Auto wipers Service History Mileage Date 21 28/3/2003 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 2919 24/5/2003 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 11721 17/12/2003 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 21698 22/12/2004 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 35381 22/11/2005 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 46735 27/11/2006 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 61266 25/10/2007 Volvo Dealer (Slater, Conway) 73896 29/8/2008 Independent/DIY – missing stamp 91526 3/7/2009 Independent – stamped 111751 12/4/2011 Independent – stamped 125343 16/03/2012 Volvo specialist (Paul Wenlock Volvo Specialist Ltd)– inc reconditioned turbo Other maintenance points • All tyres are in good or excellent condition and have branded tyres, not cheap generic type. • Front brake pads and suspension link rod replaced 30/01/12 • Turbo – replaced 16/3/2012 Volvo specialist (Paul Wenlock Volvo Specialist Ltd) These Volvos suffer a few common issues (as you’re probably aware), which have been dealt with already on this vehicle. These include: • Intercooler – replaced 1/5/2012 Volvo specialist (Paul Wenlock Volvo Specialist Ltd) • Dashboard cluster (DIM) failure – repaired and has 18 months of the warranty remaining. Bad bits • The idle is just slightly imperfect – not bad, but not amazing. Not sure if this is standard D5 or the early stages of something like an injector needing replacement or a vacuum engine mount. I haven’t investigated yet as it‘s so minor. When driven, the car and engine is super smooth and pulls perfectly. This is likely to be a non-issue, but I’d rather mention it now rather than later. How are other peoples – D5s @ tickover? • Front near side fog lense has been broken by a stone. The light doesn’t work but it would be easy to replace if you deemed necessary. • Heated driver’s seat doesn’t work. Again this never worked during my ownership (I’m personally not a fan of heated seats) and I’ve not investigated the cause. It could be just a fuse, or it could be the heater element itself. Best to assume the worst case. • There is slight paint peel on the front bumper – see photo. • The button on the radio to select different sources can ‘jump’ through a couple of selections at a time, but you can always reach all options. Very very minor, but worthy of a mention. I live in Shropshire (TF11) nr Telford/ Jct 12 M6, however I work Monday-Wednesday in Bucks (Amersham) and also travel to Reading in that period, so if you’re close to these areas I could attend your house for any inspection and/or agree a sale. I will not do any deals in car parks or motorways services. In the interest of securing a very quick sale, I’m only looking for £1000. For a D5 in good condition with all the major issues resolved, nr FSH and only 133k miles this represents a bargain. Any takers before I stick it on ebay for a 3 day auction? Photos to follow.... |

Just remembered, I get the 'alarm service required' error when 1st started, but it clears immediately. From the forum I gather this relates to the battery within the alarm siren and would require replacement of alarm siren, but I don't really see the point TBH as it doesn't affect the car. |
