I'm fairly sure it's not a Triumph, but it's a tough call!

I'll say early 70s Toyota Corona.

and Paul wins the pop quiz with the last guess!! A friend's Simca 1100 (i think) at their shared barn. I wondered whether people might be intrigued, think there's a Monza in the background of another shot... and an early Carlton... and a 190e... and a 740iL
Prize is a bag of rusty brown offcuts, once I've removed them!

The car looks really good, the rust is in just the usual 245 places and can be sorted. It's well worth it for such an early one. I was tempted myself, but I wasn't allowed another car to add to the 5 Volvos I already have!

Not a Simca 1100, that's FWD but a series 1 1300 or 1500 I think.

Hi Mylittletony

Is this the car from Accrington? if so i viewed it a while back, he wanted
£500.00 but like yourself I am not that experienced doing such work myself,
so i declined and the dog smells and colour never helped....

It then ended up on Gumtree and then on Ebay for £1000, personally I think
its worth every penny if its what you want as there are few left on the road.

I have been looking for over 3 years and never seen many, so it great that
its been saved by someone who will cherish it, as for the colour change...
definitely and I concur with your wife...lol.

My fathers car was a rusty burnt orangey colour, it was red on the logbook,
it looked great... just a suggestion.

Ive now ended up buying a 245 GL from Scotland and needs some welding on
the sill, but the rest of the car is unbelievable, it has Full Service History and
even the original invoice!

Hopefully will keep an eye out for your progress and good luck with the restoration.

Regards

javed

Unhappy Early 245 rust

I to have a early 245 (77) here in New Zealand, and like you have some rust issues. I don't know if you have noticed any rust along the bottom of the rear side windows of yours yet. I have been patching mine up for sometime now.
I have now just removed the whole window and was a bit shocked with what I found. The metal where seal sits is all pitted and there are small rust holes all the way along with a big hole at the rear end of the window.
I also have some rust around the front windscreen so will be removing it as well to fix the rust.
The rest of my 245 is pretty good so it's well worth repairing as its the best general purpose car I've ever owned.

Hi Volan, could you post some photos of your car and the work being done? I'd be interested to see it.

Thanks

John

That's pretty bad. You might need to cut a repair section from a later scrap car. Is that ATS wheel for the 245? Looks good black and polished!
