S60 - Headlight not working
My offside (driver’s side) headlight unit has just stopped working. Sidelight, dipped beam and main beam are not switching on. Front OS fog light and indicator works ok.
When I switch the engine off and restart (I’ve tested this once), the front OS sidelight came on and switched itself off 20-30 seconds later. Front OS dipped beam did not light up at all. Message on the dash says “dipped beam failure”. Car is an early 2005 S60 D5 Euro3 163bhp - D5244T engine. Dipped bulbs are new-ish - replaced about 6 months/4000 miles ago. No idea how old the sidelight bulbs are. CEM problems? Loose wire? Something as simple as a fuse? Last edited by McGandalf; Feb 15th, 2019 at 21:12. Reason: Typo |

To clarify, the entire nearside (passenger side) headlight unit lights up perfectly - all bulbs working.

This can be caused by a faulty head lamp CEM shunt
go to this link post number 20 - it worked for me. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...?t=9910&page=2

It can also be caused by a failed earth...
You might be lucky and jump straight to the fault, but I would first measure the voltage across a ‘failed’ lamp positive and earth and then the resistance between the earth wire and a good earth. That will tell you huge amounts as to what’s wrong. |
