I think we are all more or less in agreement Dave: at the end of the day it is up to individuals as to what they spend their money on.

If I recall the context was someone trying to sell a 30 year old VWW for probably as much as it had cost new (I can’t remember the detail, maybe something like £10,000 to £15,000). From my point of view paying a grand or two for a 30 year old car, then paying £300 or so per year tax for the next decade is sort of okay, but paying much more makes little sense… just my point of view, that is all.
