I'd like to point out in my situation that the Bluetooth doesn't work at all.
The version in My Car is blank and I can't pair a phone. Everything else seems to work though so the IHU? is getting a reinstall this afternoon.

Software was reinstalled and the bluetooth version went from 5.00.17S to 5.00.90C IIRC.
Also the update has changed the text in the Stop/Start menu from things like 'Battery Charging' to 'Electrical System'. So updates all over the place! Everything seems to be working though now - happy with the maps update!

This may be a silly question but if the car is in for a service as well, adding extra software doesn't take hardly any time at all. Software is upgraded as part of a standard service, so getting the mechanic to add extra software should take only the time to press a few buttons, unless of course he has to stand and do nothing else for the duration of the upload......!
Ok so there is a charge for the actual software, but labour????

The problem is that the map update takes 75 minutes. It's obviously a slow USB connection.

They don't do the map update itself, I had to do that. It seems that whatever software is loaded takes a long time!

The sums show that it is USB2 that they are using - thankfully, if it is was USB1 then it would have been quicker to change the car every 3 years for a new map than try to do an update of the database - also explains why they used to use DVDs in the boot since they were easy to upgrade and data transfer was faster than USB1. How nice it would been if they had used USB3, that dataload would have been in the region of 10 mins - problem is that USB3 came out after the car was released to the market
