Default 440 Central Locking Playing Up

Hi,

Bought a 1994 440 Si a few weeks ago, and the central locking isnt working,
theres a button under the radio next to the heated seats button, which activates the cental locking so when the ignition is on, i press the button and all the locks lock/unlock, so i know the motors in each door are working, however if i use the key in the driver/passenger door it only locks/unlocks that door, central locking doesnt work, altho i can hear some sort of noise from the rear door sometimes, also if i lock the car centrally from the inside and then close the driver door, when i go to open it with the key they all unlock?

I should also mention i have a fob, which didnt work so i replaced the batteries and it still doesnt work, which im not too fussed about as long as the central locking works with the key then ill be more then happy,

Any ideas?

Jose

The central locking is activated by a switch in the drivers door, connected to the lock. The passenger door has no switch, so will not unlock the other doors. Check the linkages inside the drivers door, and check the connections. It could be a broken wire where they cross from body to door. It could be a bad connection at the switch. It could be an intermittant switch. The only way to find out is to play with the switch and a multimeter.
