Default Wheel Upgrade - Offset Difference of 10mm

Not sure if any of you have knowledge/experience on this topic but here goes:

My V70 currently has factory 16" wheels on it (16"/5x108/+50mm offset) and I've come across a set of 4 Volvo Mirzam wheels which are 17"/5x108/+40mm offset).

This would effectively widen the wheel base by 20mm. I've read that reducing the offset could put additional strain on wheel bearings, and alter the feel/handling with undesirable consequences. Is an extra 10mm on both sides something to worry about?

I'd be more concerned that your tyres would rub on the inner bodywork. I'd be inclined to get a set of 17" rims that are the correct dimensions for your car. Note that most of the 17" Volvo p3 rims are 17x7J which will not need steering limiters fitted, but the Njord alloy is 17x8J does need steering limiters. If your car was factory fitted with 16" wheels then you will not have steering limiters.

Thanks, Tommy. You are right. I'm going to hold out and see if I can find some decent deals for rims that are specific to my model.
