cold start difficult, white smoke
Hello,
lately my v50 2006 2.0d 100kw DPF has morning "hangovers" with difficult start and white smoke until engine hot. - if temp 0 (car parked for 3 days ) OR temp -6 car parked for the night, starts only after 4 - 6 tries of 3 second cranking, rough idle, like a 2 cyl tractor, improves a bit after 2 min still rough, mostly with white smoke; until engine warm, then everything is perfect - if temp 0 (car parked for the night) starts after 3 sec of cranking with ~200rpm and after 1-2 sec 800 rpm rough idle, sometimes white smoke, until engine hot, then everything is fine. - If temperature 15 celsius or more, (car parked for the night) starts fast with rough idle, sometimes white smoke, until engine hot, then everything is fine. + oil level rises slightly - contamination with diesel, i know it's common with the wet DPF, maybe it's because of the extra fuel at start + oil leaks (few drops overnight) but mostly on idle and when running, saw some small spots on the back of the car after some highway trip, traced it around or upper the turbo charger area - connection to rubber hose, leaks all over the gear box; not sure if it has anything to do with the start but worth mentioning + noticed some vibration at around 900-1100 rpm idle and running, DMF ? + noticed vibration in torque at 1900-2000 rpm only in 4th gear, engine loaded Spark plugs checked and working No error code dpf regenerating works injector cut test in vida after engine warm or semi warm doesn't reveal anything, idle rpm drops from ~800 to ~750 and recovers with rough engine on all; similar at 2000rpm, with cold engine, only first 1-2 minutes after start noticed slightly no change when cut injector 2, but i'll call that inconclusive since afterwards any injector cut is generating extra vibration and worse idle haven't done yet leak test yet heard of injector trim test but couldn't find it in vida ?? My guess is an injector is worn and spilling too much at start. how can i identify which ? injector class is 5. can i replace one injector with class 6 and the rest of 3 remain class 5 ? also the small return fuel line is a bit wet and seems to be leaking on injector 4 (counting from the battery), is it possible to remove it (the u metal spring clamp) without removing all the plastic engine cover and the intake ? If it really is low compression then nothing short of an engine rebuild will fix it.
