Probably the final update from me to this thread - my insurance company have paid out on a total loss claim.

Good to hear that they've paid out.

Do you intend to replace it with another XC60?

Until the manufacturers change this, the only safe answer is a Faraday pouch. Every car sold with keyless entry should have one given out as standard.

I went through a lot of test drives of F-Pace, X3, GLC etc. a few months ago and decided that the XC60 suited me best. I still think that so will probably get another but it won't be new.

Did your insurance at least cover the invoice cost if you want to buy another like for like?

I've got one for my XC90 key - thought it would be a pain at first but I now put it straight into it when I get home without even thinking about it.

I tested it with the key in the pouch right up next to the car door and it wouldn't unlock

Highly recommended.

Just purchased the Stoplock Pro from Amazon on offer @ £49.95 that i will use when parking in cities/places that I consider to be risky. Whilst it will not 100% stop the thieves, it will slow them down with a greater chance of being noticed so many professionals will move on to an easier vehicle......or that's my theory!

Not sure if already discussed, but after watching the latest episode of the Hunted on Channel 4. It would appear there is a means of tapping into the vehicles 'telematics' and determine the GPS positions and if this is not available pick up the locations of the in-vehicle sim card (if applicable). Or may be the Police just haven't got time or resource to prioritise a detailed search?
