Hi Benali

Front and rear mounts are different parts.

This site is useful for looking up part numbers. Just select your year and model.

I would guess between 1 and 2 hours to fit.

If you didn't have a T then I think clearance for the rear mount is easier.

When I did this on a T5 I had to loosen the front subframe.

Any ideas?
If you have had to change it several times you probably do have other problems to fix.

But, that poly bush just looks wrong to me.
Look at the top right of the photo. The arm is thin pressed steel. Overtighten the bolt or any sideways movement and that bent section will act as a chisel and split the poly bush. Just like it has done in fact.
If they got that bit of the design wrong I wouldn't trust them on the rest.
What did the original bush look like? If it is an exact copy I'm talking rubbish as usual !

For what its worth Proparts lists the part number visible in the photo as being for manual transmission only.

I didn't realise there might be a difference. Anyway.

Default Engine movement which can rip rubber mounts

Just being in the wrong gear can cause the engine to splutter and give the top mount a nasty jolt. These top mounts only last three or four years before you can see a lot of daylight through the torn rubber. As for the bottom mounts, out of sight, the wear on them only gets picked up at services and MoTs, but they tend to last a decade or more as they don't shake quite as much as the top mount.

This was my original mount. Had about 3mm of movement in rubber bush.
So I believe I bought the correct PU bush, as basically either round or square type.
Yes the pressed steel arm cuts into the PU bush but I didnt expect the bush to be destroyed in time.
Anyway, I'll get the bottom 2 done as they must be original (2003yr 100k now)
Then re-address the top mount situation.

Default Top Mount

My top mount is a totally different shape to that. It is round, similar shape to the one on the bulkhead.

From the original pictures it looks as if the mount has perhaps been put is 90deg out as if it is not square but rectangular with the long side horizontal rather than vertical.

Even so, the mount should not have deteriorated the way it has so as others have suggested, other mounts are on their way out.

Default Benali - photo of top mount

The implant doesn't look a bit like what I have on my 1999 T5. The top mount has a large hole into which a piece of round rubber that fits into that hole is slid, and there is a bolt through the centre of the rubber, which bolts onto the arm from the bulkhead.

The side bits of stuff in the picture of the top mount hide the round hole in the mount, and shouldn't be there, as it seems to be a non standard part, as I don't have an oblong piece of metal surrounded by polyurethane or rubber with a hole in it inside the top mount's round hole.

There seems to be some confusion as to what an original mount should look like. The later C70's had a modified mount and is different to the earlier ones. For reference the attachment shows the mount on my C70
