Default Clutch shudder

V50 2 litre petrol. Just gone in for 3,000 mile check at Stratstone, STockport. The clutch feels fine when cold, but judders/shudders when warm, especially when taking off in 1st. Not a lot, and not if you get the revs just right, but you have to concentrate. Does it in reverse too if you don't get the revs right.

My pet, ex RAF engineer, car fixer agrees.

Told dealer - and was told it was fine, that you have to give the engine extra revs, that V50 pedals are set like it.

Only my wife's 86k 1999 Megane doesn't need special treatment, nor my old VW camper, in fact none of my other cars - and I've had quite a few over the years - have been this faddy.

Does anyone else have a similar experience? Is this a 'characteristic' of the model - or what?

Slight pull in steering to left also noted - put down to low tyre pressures by Stratstone. It still pulls to the left.

Otherwise - great car, plenty of go in the Focus engine, quiet, good fuel economy - 36 mpg on the way back from garage - and we've just spent the best part of four days in it driving to Chamonix and back without a single back twinge - and not too much moaning from the kids in the back, except when the car kangaroos if you get the revs wrong.

It shouldn't be shuddering, take it back until they fix it (sounds as though anoter dealer may be required given Stratstones attitude) My diesel shudders quite a bit when cruising along the motorway and I suspect it's down to alignment issues on my rear wheels (which I shall confirm next week after correction)

I do get some shuddering in 3rd when pulling away from lights/junctions and I think this is down to the fact that there is a dual mass flywheel on the car and they do have a reputation or acting strangely under some loads (the theory behind a DMF is that it reduces the pulses/vibrations from the engine to the drivetrain but it does seem to accentuate it sometimes)

Hope you get it sorted

Rich
