Default Past History For KFN 93D - 121 Automatic

I have owned the car since 2005 and I believe the previous owner had the car from 96. Does anyone have any earlier info on the car? Thanks

Thumbs up

Hi,

If you download form V888 from the DVLA website, fill it in and send off with the fee of £5, they will send you a copy of all documented history including previous owners and dates of ownership change etc.

They are not quick in responding but will do eventually!

Hope this helps,

Paul

I'm pretty sure that DVLA no longer give out previous keeper names and addresses for a vehicle just because the new owner is curious about its history. It breaches the Data Protection Act. There has to be a legal basis for requiring third party information now - unfortunately.

... actually, I rather hope you are right. I wouldn't particularly want my address to be made available just because I'd owned a vehicle 10, or 20 or 30 years ago. I can only think someone would want that information for a nefarious purpose.

I did it for our estate several years ago. It was interesting to see where she had been all over the country and who first owned her but can understand if someone was not happy with something they might contact previous owners

Quite correct Mike, my original V888 comment above was back in 2014 before data protection raised its head, sadly previous owner details are no longer given.

Perhaps it seems almost incredible that until just 8 years ago, one could get DVLA to look up all the back history on their files and even give you photocopies of the documents.
I got each change of owners ,with addresses, and the copies of V5 and a photocopy even of the original green book with amendment first issued in 1965.
Unfortunately and sadly no longer possible.
If one is selling a car with history does one now burn the old records?

I managed to trace all my cars previous owners it’s only had 7 since 66, 1st 5 are in the old log book and the remaining 2 I traced by old registration documents and invoices, I sent a letter to the last owner asking him to contact me if he wanted to, which he did
I hope people keep this up for classic cars I see only good things in being able to know a cars history and most previous owners are interested in where their car is now.
