Brakes: Brake issue after changing wheels

Hello all. Today was eventful. I've changed the wheels on my car today and then went off to drive and I have no resistance in the brake pedal and it's hardly working.*
I know the previous owner had a problem with the brakes before but I thought it was a bit of a coincidence its happened straight after changing my wheels.*
There are no obvious leaks at all.*
Bit confused. Any help would be great.

Did the brakes not work immediately after you changed the wheels, or after driving?
Do the brakes work if you pump the pedal?
Is the vent hole in the brake reservoir clear?
Did you touch anything else, or literally only the wheels - not touching the pads, for example?

I've just noticed your post on the the brake problem thread. You say there "so I've bought this lovely car". Do you mean you have bought the car featured in the other thread, so you have inherited the older problems, or is this a different car and this is nothing to do with the other thread?

Sorry - just noticed you have a third thread on the subject. It would be clearer if you stuck to one thread.

Could be a long shot this & not related: ~ a friend of mine purchased a 240 saloon with brake problems- sometimes ok—sometimes thingy clenching!
The air valve that is attached to the servo unit caused the problems (top had come adrift) replaced and it was fine—could be worth a check together with associated parts i.e. grommet & pipe.

I think the servo NRV was known to occasionally be problematic in period, Bob, although having run several two series cars over the years, we were never troubled by it.

Hello. Sorry about the duplicate thread, wasn't sure I'd put the original post in the right place.
So I've just changed taken all the wheels off and torqued them with the torque wrench. Drove up the road, brakes are back. The brake pedal in my opinion still travels far too far but they work. I may look at adjusting the master cylinder pin.
The car is one in the same so its had previous issues with the brakes.
Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it.

There's something very mysterious happening here. Changing to the new wheels stops the brakes from working, but putting the old wheels back causes them to work again?
Are you sure that's all you did? You haven't knocked anything while doing it, twiddled with a hose, pumped the pedal, etc?

No I put the same wheels on again. I think it was just a coincidence.
Think the brake issue is an ongoing thing I'll need looking at.
