As a daily driver (less than 10 miles), I'm getting around 32mpg.

I've had in excess of 550 to a tankfull and near 50mpg on a 400 mile + run. That was just me in the car and the tyres pumped upto 44psi.

As a general car with the family (5 up + boot items) I get between 36 & 42 depending on the road type on a motorway journey.

The sweet spot for me is to keep the cruise on below 2k revs (around 67 mph) to get a constant 36mpg+ Turning off the air con will give an additional 4-6mpg, but who really wants to do that.

I had a carbon clean (with the hydrogen gas for about an hour) on my D5 (185) and that did give immediate mpg results upto high 40s, but that has slowly dropped back down to normal values.

Using a premium fuel against normal will also give me a mpg increase of 4-6mpg, but the added cost doesn't make it worthwhile. I do tend to use premium fuel if doing a long run (300 mile or more) just to help clean things through.

Wow is yours a 185 model? My 185 d5 with the flaming dpf I'm lucky to get 350 miles out of a tank, usually fill up reset the trip and mpg, onboard mpg at the moment is 26.6 real mpg is about 24 current tank full, last one was 28.4 trip and 26 mpg brim to brim.

Best ever was 30.2 iirc all logged on fuelly, that was a trip down to Cornwall all tyres at 39psi half laden etc.

I can get circa 35-50 on instantaneous readout at 40-50mph in 4th-5th steady cruise, would be about 20-25 if the dpf is regenerating at the same time same speed) any slight incline it drops to 20 ish region and any acceleration even lightly it still drops, driving up hill with a bit of acceleration lucky to get out of single figures lowest I've seen was 4.6 mpg on a average sort of hill normal driving following a lorry in a 50 zone. If I lived down Cornwall devon way or Yorkshire for that matter I'd have sold the car within a week for horrendous fuel economy, I'm sort of putting up with it at the moment.

Would be nice to average 30mpg over a tank.
I drive quite conservatively to steady acceleration and I get better mpg using the manual option by some margin.

Currently done 148 miles it's saying I've got 230 left red light will be on at 50-60 so realistically it will drop about 30 miles of that over the next few days so usable miles out of the tank about 300.

My 2.0T aero ss averaged about 27 mpg and I probably drove a lot quicker yes it's lighter but wow just thinking of the economy.

Quick calculation of 350miles to the tank is only 23mpg that's pretty horrendous given some of your posts.

Trade in time I think. Will be no good for my commute next year. Ah well.

Mines a 2010 D5 manual but 500 miles to a tank is what I tend to expect from my mixed driving.

If the journey is more motorway then up to 550 miles / tank more likely but I just replaced the intercooler and did a 460 mile round trip up / down A1 / m25. Tank was filled before I set off and computer reset. That says average 44mpg and range showing 180 miles left.

That would be 640 miles on the tank if true, but I’m sure that won’t happen. In any case the next 100 miles will be mixed roads around North Yorkshire so the average will come down and probably end up at 550.

Salivating at some of those averages ..... mind you surely a lot of that will come down to the regular type of journeys. I think i am around low 20's if city i.e. less than a couple of mile trips.

This goes up to mid-30s for longer runs.

Managed to eek out 406 miles before I bottled it haha, going off the fill up 65.4 litres so 4.6 litres remaining until dry would have got around another 24-26 miles out of it.

I would say I am getting around 350 - 400 miles from a tank when light comes on, wouild say more avagage 350 miles per tank.

What are you guys getting PER TANK??

I am also talking real world driving, no 600miles all round trip at 50mph lol

Again coming from different I a am unsure if my D5 is using more fuel than it shouold or I am just for getting it's a heavy car.

Is there a option on VIDA I can check fuel use and Injector fuel usage etc??

Any other input?
it is easy to see when the engine is thirsty , just set the fuel display to instantaneous , and keep an eye on it ...
miles a tank is pretty vague , there will still be about 10 litres in the tank when the light comes on ...also there are different sizes of fuel tank on the different models and different engines ...

Mine is a 200Bhp version as well and after having filled it up for the first time (completely to the brim without spilling) it had done 316 miles and used 44 liters which should be 32mpg. This was 60% Motorway at 65mph, 35% hilly and twisting A-roads in West Sussex and 5% city to get out of the bloody town .... I have now set the pressure of my 18" Continental Eco Contacts to 39PSI and will see if that provides an improvement. Impressed by the chap who managed 500 miles out of it !

Thank you ALL for your replies, it would seem I am getting the same as most people running on the 185 lump.

Still find it strange seeing some people posting on FB with pictures showing 38mpg etc when we only getting around 30 ish.

I think my computer states around 31mpg and when I worked it out with receipts it worked out at 30.6mpg so almost spot on.
