Anyone ever had to bond/glue the catch of the front quarter light back onto the glass? Does anybody know what adhesive the factory used? Could I use araldite? Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. BarryS

Haven't used Araldite since the sixties so can't comment. On my 144 I chucked the old glue-on catches in the glove box and fitted a couple of Charles Ware's Morris Minor quarterlight catches, which slide into place on the glass. Bit pricy, mind! C.A. |

After repeated attempts with various types of glue, I gave up and used a set from Charlie Ware like C.A., brilliant simple answer to a daft design.

Anyhoo, back to the catches; if the quarterlights on a P1800 are the naked glass type (unframed) then the catches should work, as you just slide them up onto the glass and friction keeps them in place (when the window is open), the action of the catch keeping them in situ when the window is closed. Don't know if it's much help, but here is a crop of a snap of mine - you can make out the bottom of the quarterlight. C.A. |

Thanks for all the photos. Looks like it 'probably' wouldnt fit the P1800. They mount at the bottom, not up the side.
Oh well. |

Thanks to all. Decided to opt for the Charlie Ware Morris Minor catches. Expensive but a simple quick solution.

Any chance of a photo or part number for these catches as I want to go the same route but worried about ordering the wrong parts.
Cheers Tony |
