Yeah, it was me that bypassed it, I didn't realise it was involved with the diagnostics port, but there were still 3-5 wires that were not totally resolved before I got the engine to start.
Will have to get back out with the multimeter and work out whats happening. |

Don't you hate it when threads like this don't get resolved.
Thankfully, this time there's a nice neat conclusion. Turns out there were two simultanous problems with the 440, both a bad connection to the fuel pump relay (broken wire, just touching to make connection), *and* a faulty throttle position sensor. Both of these faults caused the same problem, one depending on throttle position, and the other from random vibrations or butterflys flapping their wings in China. This also explains why all the diganostics were weird, because when I bypassed the throttle sensor, it still cut out because of the fuel pump, and when I hardwired the fuel pump, it still cut because of the throttle position sensor. Also the throttle position sensor wasn't completely duffed, and gives normal resistance readings, but it must have some dirt on the variable resistor, causing the sudden drop outs. So glad this **** is over, probably over 12 hours racked up on this car, and God knows how many more wondering about it late at night. The diagnostics port still doesn't work, but I have a theory on this one. When I bypassed the immobiliser, some stuff got wired up slightly differently, rather than grounding two relays via the ECU, they were grounded directly. Not 100% sure if there is any point fixing it now the engine is running smooth. I doubt I will Last edited by SteveHall30; Jan 25th, 2013 at 17:07. |
