Since i started this thread my car has done about erm.....another six thousand miles or so, since then, nothing has gone wrong. Its chugged up and down the A14 and the M6 with no problem or hassle at all. Just keeps on going. The best thing i think about the 440 is the power of it. my 2.0i keeps surprising me, put your foot to the floor in 3rd, your whole body is pushed back in the rather compfy half leather seat and its off, the accerlation in the upper end is rather impressive. The accerlation in the lower end is just as good.

the best thing i think is the space, for car that isnt really that big, nottas big as some estates or even some of the new mpv or 4x4's that we see on the road today. i can quite happily fit 5 people in the car for a nice long journey in comfort. the boot space will fitted all of my mums christmas food shopping for 13 people with space to spare, made it look like she hadnt brought much!

i do however have one gripe, i dont know if its just my car, but the gearbox, its a bit....clunky. in normal weather its fine, in the cold its cluncky, in the boiling hot its clunky, but i guess i'll just have to live with it until i can figure out whats wrong with it!

anyway i hope it gives me many more happy years of motoring!

Sadly my 440 has ended up being "Enviromentaly De-Polluted" i.e. Scrapped, because I could not afford to replace the complete exhaust system & other small bits & pieces that needed doing. - I felt like as if I had commited Murder & felt really rotten with myself for having to take such a drastic step.

I blamed my husband & jokingly said words to the effect of "If only you been a bloody mechanic".

Ah well maybe someday I may win the lottery (not very likelly as I don't play it) & be able to buy myself another Volvo.

Well my 460 is my second car and the first Volvo I have ever owned, but I have always wanted a Volvo.

Nothing has really gone wrong on it, but then it has now only done 55k miles! Main gripes with it are the usual rust on rear arches, which is minor so far, treated one side but other side also needs doing. One thing that does annoy me though is the glovebox broke and now I have a spring sticking out the top... Anyone else had this problem?

Was abit annoyed when I found out the car didn't have ABS as advertised when I bought it though (Does have a fuse for it strangely). Especially when I had to do an emergency stop at 60mph going round a corner! Luckily the car didn't veer off and I eased on the brakes in an attempt to stop the wheels locking. All too easy with a car that weights just over a ton with 4 discs!

Its a very relaxing car to drive but doesn't offer much for more spirited driving. It also annoys me that its just far too sensible. Yes I know its a Volvo, but it atleast could have had a massive thirsty engine to make it atleast a bit silly!

Gearbox is clunky, but atleast it 'clunks' into gear unlike my old car. The phrase 'like a stick in sh*t' comes to mind for that one

Can't say my car rattles much if at all, apart from the glovebox sometimes but then it is broken. Ride quality ain't bad, abit rolley-polley though. Wish my car was a Turbo
