Engine: D52447: - Engine Service Required - Message

My MY2003 D5 with 58k miles was recently serviced at SMW Volvo in Belfast.

That was ~500 miles ago and a few days ago, the 'Engine Service Required' message has appeared on the dashboard twice.

This message came on when accelerating normally (from a standing start pulling out onto a main road) up a hill. There was a noted loss of power and acceleration, but no error lights or anything to suggest that something had failed.

On both ocassions, the 'Engine Service Required' message went out and normal driving resumed once the car was up to speed.

Very strange!

Has anyone any ideas as to why this message occured in the first instance??
