Around town (most of my driving) 22-23mpg , on a run 29-30mpg . To be honest nice though better consumption would be if that had been what I was looking for then a big car like the xc90 is totally the wrong car . On the other hand they are smooth , powerful , extremely comfortable and overall a very good package for a big luxury suv .

really quite happy with that for a large solid car
As I said before pre 2007 (without particulate filter) do much better
When did you last reset the average consumption ? Because if you never have then the longer you leave it from last being reset the less the value will change with time .. If you reset it , the read out will be up and down all over the place and then begin to stabalise , much like droping a stone in a pond , lots of disturbance for a short time then the longer you leave it the less unstable it becomes . Each and every reading is accurate but you have to remember how it works it is influenced by Time passing and instantaneous fuel consumption ..

just did a reset after eight months 6000 miles average speed for that time 22 mph average mpg 26 mpg

just reset and new average mpg only 1 day but reading 27.5 mpg average

I am amazed that such a heavy powerful car uses such a small amount of fuel as I am a little heavy on the right foot at times

Have over last 3 months changed fuel I use to V power shell or Ultimate BP and have noticed I get better pulling power + at least 10% more to gallon now including towing (about 10%) shows 30.6 to gallon

Yes, that's one of the reasons I've been able to get 46mpg on the motorway. I've been using Shell V+ for about 3 years now. Can't get it in North West Scotland though. :-( (Or BP Ultimate)

I commute 130 miles a day from Oxford in to NW London and I get around 32 - 34 mpg on a round trip which isn't bad at all!

Car's done 17,000 and it's a D5 auto - 2010 model.
