Default Clicking Noise

Hi,

XC90 has developed a strange clicking noise on start up which disappears after a few minutes - appears to be from the around the altenator and I suspect it may be the unit on top of the altenator. Is this the Power Steering pump - anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks,

If it's around the alternator I believe it could be the alternator clutch pulley, search the forum for this.

..isn't this the air con compressor assembly (underneath the alternator) - or am I looking at the wrong thing ?
Had the bonnet up on mine at the weekend (cleaning loads of mud off it funilly enough) and there was one of the pulley wheels 'clicking' in and out of drive about every 20 -30 seconds. I've assumed this to be normal as it tries to maintain constant cabin temperature.
Just a thought - but try with the air con off and see if it makes any difference ..

Cheers
Ian.
