Help - air in brake system
I was changing the fluid today and let the reservoir run too low so sucked air in. Now it won't come out! I pushed several liters of fluid through but still a whooshing sound when the pedal is pumped. I guess the air is in the ABS system. Does anyone have any ideas of how to avoid a tail between legs trip to dealer!
Thanks Steve |

Try just brimming the reservoir, have somebody ready to top it up. Connect a large hypodermic to your clear tube, connect it to the nipple, then open the nipple. Now very slowly draw the fluid down through the system. It may take some time to purge the air.

I got it sorted by a tyre and brake centre today. It needs a scan tool to cycle the ABS valvles once air is in the system. So everything works fine now and I have a firm brake pedal with no warning lights.
What I do still have is a series of high pitched beeps on turning off the ignition. This comes out of the audio speakers but I have a suspision is still related to the ABS module. I am sure I count 7 beeps, which would match the 7 valves in the system. Anyway as everything seems fine and no warning lights I am going to live with it until the next service. The warning lights do come on when first turning the ignition key and them go out so it is not that the warning bulb is blown. Steve |
