1999 V70 Will ECUs stop a like for like Engine & Auto Swap?
B5244S 1999 V70 1999 V70 - Will ECUs stop a like for like Engine & Auto Swap?
We're about to undertake a like-for-like engine & auto gearbox swap from one 1999 V70 car to an identical car. Identical or not, some things will stop this for sure, ie we know the ETM can't move from the donor car, those are coded to the ECU. Without VADIS to make things work, each ETM needs to stay with each car. We're moving the autobox too. We're quiet frightend the sparky bits won't play with each other, eg: is the box coded to its own transmission ECU? Identical cars, B5244S 1999 V70 Denso sparks, donor is same year, same variant, same box etc. What else stops this being a simple spanner-job? Both cars are V70 NA B5244S AW55-50/51SN

If identical cars, then keep the electronics from your car, and only move the mechanicals from donor car to your car.

Of course, move only mechanical parts, that'd be the general idea - that's at the root of this question.
Is it really that simple or workable? Is there not something, buried in say the transmission, that means we're forced to stay with the existing box and can't move the donor box across with the donor engine?
