Default Why cut the yellow and pink side light wires ?

This is an excellent guide written by JSeaman but I do not understand why the pink and yellow wires inside the phase 2 headlights need to be cut.

The yellow is a common earth, could it not be left as is ?

The pink is a side light live feed and is connected to one of the external pins on the headlight units. Why not connect the existing side light feed to the external pin.

You have to get the opposing connector from the wiring loom that's how i did mines although it was easier cos i had 5 wire and the twin lights were 5 wire to.

could I use the p2 connectors and join them up instead of redoin all those wires on the 4pin to a 5 pin just join wires to the clip connection but redo the side lights wires ???I have to new lights as well of the connection clip that belongs to the new lights so I thought u se that instead of theses clamps male/ female / just wire them up but have one wire left out as yellow but follow that for side light wiring ???
