Default Tow bar - Free to a good home

This genuine Volvo 240 tow bar is surplus to my requirements (the Barge already has one) and so is offered free to a good home for collection from NN18 8PF.

I'll hang on to it until October, but if unclaimed by then it will have to go to the Romanian scrap dealer.

The towing ball part has been claimed by a member, leaving this brute still available should anyone need it:

It seems a pity to leave it out for the Romanian scrap dealer, but if no one claims it in the next 2 weeks I'll have to do that.

Free to collect from NN18 8PF.

I think it needs the special Volvo extension with ball to work. The bolt holes are at non-standard spacing and won't take a standard drop-plate.
Without an ordinary drop-plate the ball height can't be adjusted. I've had caravans, trailers, dinghy trailer with a range of heights over 6" difference or more. It's not safe to pull something if it can't be adjusted to a level ride.

Four M10(?) bolts at 100mm x 30mm spacing - standard towbars are two bolts at 90mm spacing.

Not unsolvable, but yes, needs Volvo plate or some landrover adaption, not vanilla towball.

With respect, I don’t think the adjustable height argument holds any water. The genuine Volvo tow bar and hook on the Barge are in no way adjustable for height, and although I never tried it, I don’t think this one was either.

This isn’t really my problem. I’m just offering this FOC in case anyone can make use if it. The towing hook is going to a forum member that already has the tow bar, so it won’t be wasted.
