Just tried this. On my car the engine did cut out when I stopped and had the speed-limiter activated.

As others have said, there is a long list of situations which can prevent the stop/start engaging. But if the stop/start READY light is white, I think it should engage when you come to a halt, and cut the engine.

My stop-start was faulty for 4-5 months and rarely engaged. During that time, the READY light was grey, indicating the system was not activated, and the engine would not cut-out. s/w bug was tracked down as the cause, and eventually sorted (full charge, new battery sorted it for about 1 day each)

When you have set a speed-limit, do you see the READY light in white, or grey?

hi everybody (first post I think) - thanks jcbrown for that info as I think my V90 D4 has the same issue - suddenly (after leavig it with meet 'n greet airport parking) stop/start hardly ever works - I think just after a really long journey ???ie a good battery charge?? is the main think that gets it working again - I will study the colour of the display symbol [as avidly as I have studied the list of criteria for the system to work!!]

thanks guys, Phil, Nantwich, Cheshire

Although there are several criteria that have to satisfied for stop/start to work, the charge state of the batteries is the biggest single determinant in my experience.
