Washer fluid syphons out the headlamp washers
Hi,
I replaced a headlamp wiper recently, and have had an odd problem since, as the washer fluid slowly drips out of the headlamp washer nozzles. I can't for the life of me see what would normally prevent this though, so what stopped it doing this for the first 29 years of its life? Thanks

There's a valve in the pipe from the bottle to the wipers.
I think it must be designed to require a minimum pressure to open - the gravity of the reservoir not enough, but overcome by the pressure of the pump. They stick open, because of dirt, or in the case of the similar near the tailgate, shut. I've never been able to make a failed one work. |

The valve is the Headlamp Washer T Piece. See Brookhouse
https://classicvolvoparts.co.uk/part...ent_and_Wipers Probably cheaper from a Volvo dealer. See the Brookhouse delivery charge, and all Brookhouse prices and delivery charges are plus VAT. It is always worth trying FRF Volvo dealer parts department of Swansea. They often save me money compared to non-dealer supplies. They deliver small parts by post for basically just the cost of postage. 01792 790066 or 01792 784272 - Quoting discount code: C3 |

You might as well fit the proper one but you can get a non return valve for the single feed pipe from Halfords for not much money.

Try cleaning the anti syphon valve before buying a replacement, they get a bit of dirt in them and stick slightly open,

Above link for various valves:~ Just completed this on the rear wash etc.- I would also clean out the washer bottle as they can tend to hold scum after some time. Regards Bob |

This has been fixed with a £1.89 T-valve off Ebay, thanks for the help.
