You haven’t bought an M/AMG/RS or a Polestar car, you have a Volvo with a software upgrade which is manufacturer approved so it’s an upgrade developed by Polestar, which I welcome for little money in the scheme of it all. It’s not a Special Polestar car or one of the above which would cost £10k more than a standard car.

Not picking on you here Sir but a lot of folk whinge about what could be included and then whinge about the price, take it or leave it guys, it’s worth it just not maybe for the uninitiated..

Can the car be 'tuned up' (is the correct terminology for this "have engine mapping carried out"?) by someone other than the Volvo dealership?

I would suppose it could,but.....

If yes, would this invalidate any warranty? I presume it would invalidate the engine warranty, to say the least.

If yes, then of course there would NOT be any 'Polestar badging' to go with it.

You can buy any car off the block and someone somewhere will offer you an upgrade for money and Volvo cars are no different. The difference with Polestar is that Volvo approve the upgrade and it has no effect on Warranty. Whether you actually need it is a debatable question. If all you want is the badge you can go into any dealership and buy one I should think.
For my party I am completely happy with what I have and see no need for any upgrade, I am certainly not one of the so called uninitiated. I bought the car for what it is, not what it might be. If it’s what you want cost should be irrelevant and if anyone thinks it’s overpriced don’t buy it and don’t blame Volvo for not including it free of charge. Why should they.
