Default V90 ceramic coating

Hi, purchased a bursting blue Volvo V90 last month. It’s a d5 with polestar upgrade, winter pack and tinted glass. Absolutely love it. Had various cars before including a6 avant, 435d etc but there is something really special about the Volvo. Think it’s just so different from the norm and I’ve only seen one other v90 on the road since I bought it (and it was a d4!) I got the car machine polished and ceramic coated 2 weeks ago with g technique crystal serum light and glass treated with exo. I’ve attached photos of the finished product. First class job and makes cleaning so much easier. Also really pleasing to see the beading of water when it rains. Just toying with wrapping the chrome now to make it look meaner!

Very nice Sir, I’d wrap it all in clear wrap.
Are you going black grille surround

Yes washed on Tuesday past for the first time. (The longer you can let the ceramic coat cure before washing the better. I let it cure for 2 weeks- this is a recommended timescale.) I used Dodo juice ifoam in a snow lance, followed by dodo juice shampoo in a two bucket scratchshield wash, using a gtechniq mitt. I then dried it off with a microfibre towel. Looks really well and the water just sheets off it when washing.

The car looks brilliant. I am not sure if your purchase is a brand new or a used car. I read somewhere it is not necessary to get a brand new car from the factory machine polished before the coating is applied. Does machine polishing a brand new car enhance the gleam of the paint work?

Some people even suggested to ask the dealer not to wash the car to make sure they don’t inadvertently create swirl marks and/or minute scratches on the paint work just in case; also ask the dealer not to remove protective covers and then get the coating on asap.

The car is March 2017, in order to get the lower tax rate! Nearly every car will need some sort of polish prior to ceramic coating, if you want the right results. Even new cars will have blemishes in the paintwork, overspray etc. Here’s an example of what he did with the piano black b pillars, which under ordinary light didn’t look too bad!
