Bit of a long shot, its bedtime and I don't have time to read all the previous posts but do you have the Volvoguard ii alarm key fob for sale?
Also wondered why the car was broken for spares, such a shame! Edit, do people buy second hand steering racks? I guess if its the original on the car it won't be any better than mine but maybe it's had a new one fitted late in it's life? Or are they a part that people only buy new?

As for why it was broken, I wanted to convert my lovely saloon auto to manual. This car is rotten in several places and dented all over and had a few days of MOT left when I bought it, I know that it would have failed the next one. It has helped keep about 20 940's on the road so I see no issue breaking a dog of a 940 to do so. As for the steering rack, I am keeping this one as a spare but if a 2nd hand one works fine then I would buy it and get it sent off to be rebuilt before fitting. |

It's a long story but using full lock frequently when parking for a long period of time in the past plus I believe some contribution from an idiot mechanic I used for a couple of years (will explain later with photo) have not done it any good. I get the grindy thing going on occassionally. I've been very careful since diagnosis (by a trustworthy Volvo indi who thought it had a bit of life left in it yet) a few years back not to put her on full lock but funny enough since the RAC towed me back the way they did rear end up on the dolly (he did lock the steering) she feels a bit wanderey and vague. I feel convinced that my steering suffered on that tow and I don't think it's my paranoia. Wondering whether to complain to RAC.

Does the vague/wandery/floaty feeling get worse with speed?

Not sure, I'll check it out, thanks. I'll start a new thread when I check it so as not to impose on Luke's thread any more, sorry Luke!

If it does get worse with speed, chances are it's the front shocks getting weak, could be coincidence or they might have been near it for a while and the rear suspended tow helped them along a bit.
