Default Audi & VW LED "pulsing" indicator design influence on Volvo

What are people's thoughts on the developments of pulsing indicators that you see on many new Audi's, VW's and even Toyota's?

We wouldn't want Volvo to appear to jump on the bandwagon as it were, by copying the design, but it does seem that the first requirement would be to have a design of linear indicators that are long enough to make a pulse work, which I don't think new Volvo's have, they seem to favour a square indicator, albeit made up of LED bulbs.

Would you fancy pulsing indicators on your Volvo? I note that it's relatively easy to do with bits available on ebay, if you wanted to modify your older Volvo.

I've only seen them on Audi's. I know some don't like them but I think they look great. I smile each time I see them in action.

Whatever my next car is I hope they are on them. Maybe I'm easily pleased 😁

Anything that makes the intellectually challenged sit up & pay attention is a winner in my books Sick & tired of people failing to notice a bright yellow sprinter , either Volvo with lights blazing or any other vehicle I happen to be driving

Is it 'jumping on the bandwagon' or just accepting someone else's good idea? Looking back I believe it was Volvo who came up with the three point seat belt and triangular split braking, but we wouldn't accuse those who took on these features of jumping on the bandwagon.
Personally I think the 'pulsing' or sweeping indicator is a good idea as it subtly adds to the message of the indicator, although some designs are better than others. There is a similar technique used at roadworks when they cone off a lane and the lights on the cones are somehow linked and timed to sweep towards the open lane, the movement attracts the eye and indicates where to go.

I don't know whether it's still the case but the strobing indicators on VAG cars were a[quite expensive]option and not a standard fitment.Hence you can see some cars with them and others of the same model/year without them.

Just more bollocks to add to the price. Indicators are supposed to flash.

Horrible things . like a gimmick on a childs toy car , you can't beat the traditional bulb as it warms up and cools down on every flash , no sudden brightness .
What about when these german cars have the day running lights positioned poorly and have to turn them off when the indicator is flashing so they do not overpower the indicator lights ... a bit of an afterthought .

as "most" of one of the "brands" drivers dont know about indicators pointless

as for the look ,,rank, not needed, tacky and crap, pretty much what you would expect from audi/vw... and bmw ***IF bmw's came with indicators that is, most come with a t*at at the wheel instead

This is not a new idea by any means.
Quite a few American cars had a similar version of this pulsing array fitted in the early seventies as an outward cascading horizontal rear display but it seemed to die out for some reason. Perhaps the bulbs kept blowing.
I seem to recall also that they were red in America and not amber as is the legal requirement for UK use.
