£1,900 (reserve not met) is the funniest £4k I've ever seen in my life.

And I'm a student!

Carry on..........

My God, there's a blast from the past ...

I can't get my head around this car or the whole story on so many sites anymore ... but what does leap out at me from the Ebay ad is that if the seller had bothered to post a response here like the pitch on fleabay (as opposed to calling us muppets for asking honest questions) it would've worked better.

I still don't buy the 'cherished car but don't know what happened to the badge' routine though.

Nice looker all the same, surprised at the low winning bid. Unless the buyer was of the same mind as myself - buying a nice looking 480 and forgetting about the number.

Bet the boy david feels like a right muppet as he has got nearly £800 less after this sale than he claimed to have turned down.
However if you read this thread its like a sitcom script of warring jealous transvestites arguing about how much a rare wig is worth.

Default From number 1 to number 480 ...

Am I missing something here or is the badge on the back of the apparent 480/480 a bit suspect? Never in my life have I seen a '480' ... 480ES / S / GT / Turbo yes, but '480' no ...

The celebration models all have simply '480' with no further model/trim designation

Good afternoon guys, apologies for this being my first post but my search is pretty specific.

Firstly let me explain who i am. My name is Paul and i am the chap who sold the 480 - 001 back in 2006 i think. It was a family inheritance and at the time i was not as wise as i am now.

I was wondering if anyone knew the fate / wareabouts of the 001 car as i would be interested in bringing it back home if available.

Reading this thread does fill me with some sadness, if i may i can clear up some comments.
The car was indeed repaired, however it was due to a parking mishap by my elderly grandfather, the front wing had minor damage. My grandfather purchased the car new along with a private registration of the same year, (M). I was not aware of the significance of the car until his passing where the car became my responsibility as i have a keen interest in other marks. When i found the car i discovered it to have fresh oil and had been collected, serviced and delivered back to the garage by Volvo some time previously and never moved. A new battery and it sprung into life without issues. It was what is now referred to as a "barn find" the garage was over grown, stuff everywhere and took a full day to extract!

I am pretty sure i have some photo's somewhere, i'll try and dig them out.

Regards

Paul

This wil give you a good indication;

Mind you, it's amazing what folk think a car is worth. There are a couple of 1800ES for sale on carandclassic at over £15,000 apiece - more than three times their true value - but they've been there ages!

Cheers

Jack
back then 10 years ago things took a turn for the better , classic car values were rapidly on the up , look at them now !

Actually, come to think of it, my Hillman was in fact substantially just a lump of red-painted fibreglass and filler, crudely constituted to look a bit like a Hillman Imp.

Today 10 years on a good immaculate Sunbeam Imp Sport is worth £10,000 +
A medium mechanicaly and bodily sound roughish one £5000 +.... A bog standard Hillman Imp in excellent condition £3000 !
