Deleted dpf ??
I bought a cheap but nice s40 1.6D 2006, it had antiskid on the dash and she was in limp home mode..... I had been assured there was a new turbo and injector seals?
Car took me 200mls home at 65mpg so very happy. Read codes and they related to EGR being stuck and BCM 1010 ( I think) The charge air pipe was cracked and was blowing oil onto front of engine, Changed the charge pipe today and put things back together...Turbo has a bit of movement and does not look new but there was obviously oil coming from the PCV... Questions.... checked codes with VIDA. No signal brake pedal ECM... the brake lights work... is there a separate brake pedal sensor for the ecm.. Cruise control worked on the way home so is there a 3rd sensor or does this operate from the.? The signal is low from the ADM, and checking the level of fluid was unsuccessful... and the reading for the DPF pressure is 0.. has the DPF and the ADM been written out/deleted.??.. (the DPF is physically present and seemed normal when I was removing/refitting it) The EGR valve was clogged and stuck...the actuator got hot and it seems to have had water damage so Ill muddle on with that...If it was working correctly would it be moving about once I lifted it off the valve?? if I cannot get it working I'll replace it.. NCT (MOT) is up so cannot do any spinning around... but will it fail on emissions with a hollowed out DPF...?? |

From recent experience, don't go for an aftermarket EGR valve. Go for a Volvo one (you'll have to give them your old one as it's an exchange part).
Cleaning didn't fix mine. The aftermarket one threw different codes about the signal being too high or too low and caused anti-skid errors so I had to finally opt for a Volvo one and all is well again.

From searching it seems valeo may be OEM.. in any case it is a Ford/Lucas part on the original engine... (obviously this maybe the cause) but the engine is a Ford/PSA joint enterprise.
Valeo at around 130euros seems to be about the upper middle of the field quality/price... I will check main stealer tomorrow... but my usual opening to conversations with him is "Please don't make me cry... how much is...." his usual reply is "Your not going to like this,....." |

Elk are even cheaper and only deals with OEM parts. No problems with delivery to Ireland either, unlike some other sellers I tried, so fingers crossed you will get it cheap.

well put on a used EGR from a citron (valeo) cleared the codes and off the car went... a few clouds of burnt oil and smuts and the car was tested NCT (MOT) emissions were perfect failed for a bad front shock so a few quid more and a great car for €800 so far...
