wrapping a single layer of insulation tape around the worn ball can make this last a surprisingly long time into the future ..

Can't you order parts from the UK online?

Heys guys,
I finally had enough. I bought a new piece but after 1 year it fell off again. So I had taken a stiff wire from a rc remote plane control rod and bend it to shape. After driving it for several miles I think it works well. And I think you could do the same using material from paper clips.
