Default Best way to drill a hole at drivers door

Hi all,
I am trying to pass a wire to be connected near drivers door inside car the wire will need to be connected to turning lights/parking lights inside car. I need to drill a hole at the door itself at the car there is a grommet which I can pierce but at the door there is no room even to get there with the drill.
Any tips how I could do this without have to remove the door?

Remove door to drill or use an offset chuck

My guess, given where it was intended to be wired to, is the addition of marker lamps & turn signal repeaters to the mirror back. (The thought did occur to me when I realised our mirrors have puddle lights in them but I think it'd be a bit "Germanic")
