Getting a wee bit excited now. My '11 plate XC is now; MOT'd, machine polished, alloy touched-up, swirl rod done, valeted and is just really waiting for the dent master dude to tickle a couple of small dings out.

Might be ready tomorrow so might be able to pick her up Sunday. One other thing I've told them to check is the adaptive/cornering light thingy as the button in front of the gear lever doesn't light up.

Check that the headlights are "on" (position 2).

I know the headlights are on all the time on the 11 plate models as they are the day running lights also - but the ABL's won't bend unless the headlight switch is set to dipped beams.

Aye thanks, the switch was definitely on position 2. They stuck a Snap-On scanner onto it and the DTC was reporting low voltage so not sure if battery is maybe on way out. Started strongly enough, but batteries can be funny like that.

Yay, so as of Saturday there's been an XC90 sat in my drive

It's an SE LUX with the 200ps engine and I've been looking in the handbook to see what it doesn't have. So far I've discovered that it wasn't specced with;

Blindspot thingy
Dolby/subwoofer (despite saying high performance stereo(?)) when switching on.
Heated washer jets - discovered that one this morning!

And do you know what? I don't care about any of those as it's such a lovely big car!

"High Performance Sound System" is I believe the basic system.
However, the Premium Sound System doesn't include a sub-woofer either.

There was a sub-woofer included with the Premium system on the earlier SE model (ie my 2003 XC90).

Mine (2007) is having the Dynaudio, it doesnt't have the subwoofer either.
it was present in the pre facelift models.

I to have the 200ps diesel in my 2012 xc90 SE lux. Absolutely adore it, best car I ever had. I am also surprised at how quick it picks up speed!

Same - these engines have a lot of torque making driving very pleasant. The sports suspension on my R-Design is impressive as roll is minimal and great fun as you can generate wheel screech on roundabouts if you push hard; this gives me great confidence with the car as feels controlled and that I could drift quite easily if required rather than the 'out of control' feeling you get when a car is rolling excessively.
